I like it, but I miss a lot of posters that have left. It used to be hard to keep up with everything, but now it seems the same topics are up for days. That can be good or bad, I guess.

i don't care about what you have to say
by drew sagan inthis little rant is pointed towards a particular somebody who has found it necessary to blanket all of the jwd users here with generic solicitations for their website and newsletter.
usually i let this kind of stuff go but this particular individual imo is quite crass in their style and delivery in supposedly 'exposing' the watchtower.
as such i want to state on the record that i don't care about what you have to say, your methods are stupid.

Misquotes from the "Reasoning Book" re: Cross (scans included)
by AlphaOmega inthe "reasoning book" claims that the 1874 edition of the imperial bible dictionary verifies the idea that jesus was crucified on a stake.
however, when you check the reference with the imperial bible dictionary, you see that it acutally is not as clear cut as that.. as usual, the infamous "..." of the watchtower has been used to edit out any opposing ideas in the source that they cite.. i know that this may have been mentioned before, but the scans of the imperial bible dictionary that are floating around the internet are from later editions, hence the page numbers are not those cited in the reasoning book.. .

They apparently have no shame in the way they misquote other literature. I am still amazed each time I read of another instance of blatant misrepresentation.
Thanks for the scan. cl

Do JW's reveal all their doctrines to those they study the Bible with?
by BonaFide inyes, the fairly new bible teach book contains some info in the appendix, but do witnesses include that in the study?.

They absolutely conceal their doctrines until someone is well along in their studies. How many of us would have gone to the door and talked to just anyone about the blood issue or that jws are the only true religion? No, we lured people in with a paradise earth and never having to die. We saved the real truth until later.
They also hide their history. If I would have known the "true" history of the jws, I would have not gotten involved.
Then they reserve the right to change the rules anytime and any baptized person must go along with the new rules, even if they make no sense to them.
They are very deceitful and destructive.

Just want to introduce myself
by cjones inhi everyone, i have been lurking for a very long time and have been pretty much blown away and sickened by what i have learned on this discussion forum (this is actually the first forum i had ever visted).
i am married to man who was not a jw when i met him (although he was raised as one from his early teens but left when he was in his 20's, oh and that was when he started attending college), to make a long story short we met, fell in love, got married, had a few children and then 20 yrs later he started attending the "meetings" or better yet "the indoctrination sessions" again, which btw he did not tell me that that was what he was doing!!
shortly thereafter i began noticing changes in his personality, and it wasn't for the better.

cjones, thanks so much for sharing your story. It is such a shame what the jws do to families! I hope your children are about grown and not so influenced by your husband's beliefs. I am glad you have educated yourself about this cult, that is your best hope.
I hope things work out for you and your family. Sincerely, choosing life

Zeroday, that is such a telling statement by the borg. They are so cruel and heartless. The individual means nothing, just keep running the bodies through. Leave the others to wither and die.
Easyreader, Sorry your wife is berating you. You need to stand up for yourself and ask her how she's showing Christian love or in dubland even submission? I told my husband about the mental anquish the meetings put me through. It took him a long time to believe me, but he finally got it.
Best wishes, cl

Flipper, I'm not a newbie, but hello. I think there are some still lurking here. The traffic has slowed down though. I think it would be great to let the newbies back on, but it's not my decision. I also wouldn't be the one handling the problems.
Just wanted to say hi!
